If you love feel-good romantic comedies, rousing tales of heroism, or uplifting films about the triumph of the human spirit over adversity...
...you’ll hate The Crab.
Levi Winston Taylor is a shameless piece of shit. He has given up on his academic dreams, neglected his friends, terrified his fellow citizens and has abandoned all forms of sobriety. Happiest when drinking and spewing bile, Levi hates everyone almost as much as he hates himself due to his deforming genetic disorder known as ectrodactyly or “Lobster Claw Syndrome”. His only friends are Courtney, the self-loathing girlfriend he despises, and Lucas, his last childhood friend who refuses to give up on Levi, no matter how obnoxious he is. One day Lucas introduces Levi to his new girlfriend Jane- a sharp, no nonsense, semi-deaf professor who seems immune to Levi’s barbs. Levi is instantly challenged and attracted to her. However, Levi's admiration quickly degenerates into an unhealthy obsession that confuses romantic love with depraved sex and bottomless need. Part modern day monster movie, part dysfunctional romantic comedy, The Crab follows our unheroic hero on a twisted journey from despair to vain hope and back again.
